Today on the Regained Wellness supplement review I take a quick look at my favorite supplement company, canadianprotein. I’m Canadian so it’s awesome to be able to review a top-notch company and I’m also allowed to spell it COLOUR and not color whenever needed.
This is a podcast and blog post all rolled into one, you can listen to the podcast by hitting play below, or read the post or both or whatever. It’s a like a Choose Your Own Adventure story but one without cheating by going ahead to read the best possible scenarios…
If you’re new here, with the review part of my podcast I’m taking all the experience I have from working in nutrition stores and centers and my exposure to thousands of products. I don’t have any connection to the companies I review, they’re just things I personally use or supplements I feel you might like some more insight into. O.K, let’s do this thing.

What Is Canadian Protein?
This is a company I’ve been using for years which was more based in protein powders but has now become a complete online supplement store carrying everything you need to be as healthy as possible and make your fitness and training the most effective it can be.
They are based out of Windsor, Ontario and I didn’t realize how close they had been to me the whole time as I’m only a few hours away. I was looking originally for a good New Zealand grass-fed whey protein which led me to them and they have some of the best. Protein wise, along with New Zealand grass-fed, they carry whey protein concentrate, isolate, economy whey, vegan protein and weight gainers. They carry a lot of other products but their protein seems to be their bread and butter (if you’re not avoiding carbs) and are very highly rated by customers.
Other Products They Carry
It’s not just protein but an entire range of other supplements that make up the company. I’ve mainly focused on the protein here but they also carry:
- Amino acids
- Creatine
- herbal and joint supplements
- Liver support
- Mental health supplements
- Nitric oxide and pre-workouts
- Omegas
- Vitamins and minerals
- Weight loss supplements

Some of the other products I’ve used by them are their BCAA’s which have a great consistency and mix well. I like the sour apple the best but they have a ton of great flavors. I regularly use their creatine monohydrate, again it’s very pure and absorbs well.
I also use their Omegas from time to time along with their vitamin and mineral combination. Their formulas use top quality ingredients and again many things have incredible feedback and reviews.
What’s It Taste Like?
This is normally where I’d do a taste test on an individual product but it’s a bit different when there’s an entire line of products and flavors. Protein wise here’s what you’re looking at:
- Banana cream pie
- Canadian maple
- Cappucino
- Chocolate milkshake
- Chocolate peanut butter
- Cinnabon
- Cookies ‘N Cream
- Mint chocolate chip
- Original chocolate
- Strawberry
- Strawberry banana
- Vanilla
- Unflavored and unsweetened
I’ve tried quite a few of these except for Cinnabon and strawberry and they’re all awesome and among some of the best flavors I’ve tried in a protein powder, and I’ve tried a crap load of different flavors from various supplement companies over the years. The worst? Some American product from years ago that was a cinnamon french toast kind of mix that I had high hopes for but tasted more like shoe polish. Not that I consume a lot of shoe polish..
My favorite go to flavor is chocolate peanut butter or the chocolate milkshake. They honestly might be the best I’ve had. I also like to buy the unflavoured and make my own concoctions using raw cocoa powder.
One of the coolest things with Canadian Protein is they offer single flavor packs so you can get an idea of what it’ll taste like without having to be stuck with a huge amount.
Concerns
One issue I wasn’t a fan of was seeing sucralose as a sweetener in many products. I’m not a huge fan of artificial sweeteners and I’ve covered this issue on my main podcast. You might be ok with it or like to steer clear however Canadian Protein has introduced naturally sweetened proteins that use stevia which is a great addition to their line. I’d like to see zero artificial sweeteners or flavors across the board but as I mentioned they do have unflavored options and natural sweeteners you can go for. Here’s my show on artificial flavors with fellow Canuck Mark Schatzker author of The Dorito Effect for some more insights into this whole issue.
Value
Incredible. Free shipping for orders over $99 and a flat rate of $9.99. There is also free shipping throughout North America and not just Canada anymore. I don’t live far away so I’ve been fortunate to get shipments in no more than a couple days so not sure how further distances play into that.
Product-wise, again, incredible value. The closest supplement store to me offers 2 pounds of whey protein concentrate for no less than $39.99, and it’s full of a ton of additives and crap. At Canadian protein, it’s $24.99 and WAY cleaner. That’s just the protein too, have a look around at their products and you’ll be amazed by the value. It’s one of the main points that come up in their product reviews. There’s really no reason to go to these overpriced stores when online supplement stores like this have everything you need.
So on a scale of 1-10 Canadian maple leafs I give Canadian Protein a 9.5/10
